Love's Secret
By William Blake
Never seek to tell thy love,
Love that never told can be;
For the gentle wind doth move
Silently, invisibly.
I told my love, I told my love,
I told her all my heart,
Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears,
Ah! she did depart!
Soon after she was gone from me
A traveller came by,
Silently, invisibly,
He took her with a sigh.

When I first read this poem, I first thought about a typical Korean drama. In Korean dramas, there's often a triangle love going on. In harsh cold winter, Guy One realizes that he has fallen in love with someone; however the girl loves Guy Two. The poem, Love's Secret, reminded me of this situation. It seems as though the main guy proposed to the girl that he loved her, but then, she had another guy. The last word "sigh" gave me a hint that the traveller is a friend of the main guy. Why would a stranger sigh when her girlfriend gets a proposal from another guy? I guess the two guys are best friends.
I don't know why but it felt as though this poem was telling me honesty isn't always the best answer. In the poem, the main guy was honest; however, the honesty brought him broken heart. I think that's just so pathetic.
I totally like the poem, it's sad. I don't really watch a ton of TV, but I agree with you about the Korean drama part.
I agree that a triangular love is going on lol. I laughed when the speaker said: Ah! she did depart! He knew that she would depart from him? Anyways, cute poem:]
